Performs various routine or special chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests. The duties of a Medical Technologist may be specific to a particular area of the laboratory, such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, or the blood bank.
Performs an acceptable productivity level without a significant error rate on a variety of medical technology procedures including but not limited to performing tests on cells and microorganisms in body fluids, examining growth patterns of bacteria and fungus in patient specimens and cultures, analyzing blood and other body fluids, and performing blood compatibility testing.
Demonstrates initiative in adapting to changes or unusual circumstances, especially those not covered by written or verbal instructions, in a way that promotes cooperation and minimizes disruption to the working environment.
Coordinates, plans, and utilizes time efficiently in an effort to prioritize and organize duties while remaining flexible to meet the needs of the laboratory customers. Maintains and inventory of supplies in work areas as necessary to ensure efficient departmental operations and avoid the duplication of energy and services whenever possible.

Licensed in Louisiana as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist, CLS – Generalist
