Position Summary: The Public Relations Manager is responsible for enhancing and sustaining the public image of Connections Academy, ensuring effective media coverage and telling compelling customer stories through owned, earned and paid channels. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the Public Relations Manager will lead the development and execution of public relations and influencer strategies for Connections Academy public schools. This position develops, manages and executes media outreach plans aligned with business objectives, and continuously monitors results, optimizes content, and adjusts strategy as needed. This Public Relations Manager position is well suited for someone who has a passion for news and media relations savvy.Primary Responsibilities:+ Design a bold and visionary public relations strategy that aligns with business initiatives and aim to increase awareness of Connections Academy public schools and elevate the full-time online learning sector. Suggest and implement new tactics to develop brand awareness.+ Maintain a keen understanding of K-12 education industry trends and make appropriate recommendations regarding media outreach strategy surrounding them.+ Establish the overarching media outreach strategy for execution through PR agency network to secure local and regional placements in print, broadcast and digital media.+ Demonstrate knowledge of current news and media landscape on an ongoing basis, closely watch and evaluate trends to drive our business forward+ Build and execute an effective influencer strategy unique to our business working with internal and external influencers with varying degrees of reach (nano, micro, macro, etc)+ Maintain positive brand perception and manage negative sentiment through media relations efforts, speaking engagements, award opportunities and other+ Set team objectives and analyze data and metrics to provide insights, make recommendations or optimizations as a result of performance.+ Work closely with social media team to extend the reach of PR content and showcase wins+ Partner with corporate Pearson PR Team to elevate Connections Academy and its thought leadership profile through high-level national placements; help elevate and differentiate the K-12 full-time online school category+ Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts and relationships with reporters, bloggers, influencers, and more.+ Support SEO initiatives and backlinking strategy through earned and paid partnerships with media and influencers.+ Collaborate with other departments (State Account Relations, Marketing Program Managers, Legal, etc) and provide strategic PR efforts to manage brand reputation, drive growth and coordinate action plans+ Lead and coordinate Connections Academy’s crisis response at the local and regional level focused on timely resolution and mitigation+ Manage inbound media inquiries and interview requests; determine response strategy, coordinate spokesperson and messaging.+ Conduct outreach to program advocates (families served by Connections Academy schools)+ Craft compelling content including press releases, pitches, blog posts, social media posts, polls, quizzes and more.+ Establish and manage the Connections Academy public school PR budget to provide the highest quality of PR service+ Event planning as neededPearson Online & Blended Learning is focused on providing a flexible work environment to its employees, including the ability to work from home on a regular basis in most positions. ?We believe that flexibility in work/life balance is a critical part of our culture and employee satisfaction, and we are proud to provide our employees the ability to work from anywhere, anytime. ?In exchange, we require that employees have the appropriate means to work remotely, including adherence to our work at home policies regarding home office setup, including but not limited to the privacy of records, technology standards, equipment standards and expectations. ?The following equipment will be provided to you by the company as a full-time employee:+ LaptopThe following equipment will need to be provided by you, as the employee, when working from home:+ 2nd monitor (required)+ Mouse (required)+ Keyboard (required) Qualifications Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or a related field7 years of dedicated public relations / media relations experienceProven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national levelStrong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outletsDemonstrated experience with influencer campaignsKnowledge of media monitoring software; experience with Cision a plusAgency experience a plusSome HTML, Google Analytics knowledge preferredCapabilities:Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skillsEffortless communicator; quickly synthesizes information and delivers, clear, concise and friendly communication — both verbal and written — to customers and coworkers.Approach data and continuous improvement with an analytical and performance mindsetGoal-oriented self-starter with strong desire to innovateThrives in cross-functional environmentAble to self-manage and multi-task; works well independently and as part of a team.Demonstrated ability to juggle numerous projects and meet deadlinesAble to make on-the-spot decisions, thrives under pressureCustomer-centric; ability to engage and develop relationships with school leaders, familiesHas effective change management skills (strategy, budget cuts, etc.)Takes personal responsibility – respects deadlines and meets them.
