Sonographer – Maternal Fetal Medicine – Women’s Clinic – St. Anne Campus – Full Time

This is a Contract position in Raceland, LA posted February 1, 2021.

In collaboration with staff radiologists, this job independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. This job is a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education 

Required – Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Work Experience

Required – None.

Preferred – 2 years Sonographer experience

Certifications

Required – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire)

Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Knowledge of the anatomy of the liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas to perform abdominal ultrasound and the pathology of these organs to provide radiologists with a preliminary diagnosis

Job Duties

Enables clinic operations by effectively managing the patient flow in and out of exam rooms.

Greets patients in a friendly, courteous manner without exception.

Updates patients who are waiting more than 20 minutes past the appointment time regarding the delay and updates them regularly of the expected time to be seen, or when procedures do not allow, delegates this responsibility to the office assistant.

Always explains the procedures to the patient before they are performed and makes every effort to ensure patients comfort.

Always demonstrates a professional, enthusiastic and caring manner in addressing patient concerns.

Ensures any patient questions are addressed and their privacy maintained.

Needs of patients are always anticipated to enhance patient care Patient is directed as indicated at the finish of their procedure.

Demonstrates the elements of age-specific guidelines checklist in daily activities.
