EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENTLIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES.THIS EMPLOYMENT LIST MAY ALSO BE USED FOR FUTURE WEST & EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES.KIND OF WORK:The purpose of this position is to install, maintain, repair, replace, and troubleshoot water, sewage, gas, and heating systems and equipment under the jurisdiction of the Department of General Services, Parish Wide.
This position will be required to perform an extensive variety of alterations, installations, renovations, and repairs of various plumbing equipment and systems.
Task shall include but is not limited to performing inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts, installing pipes and fixtures, such as sinks, faucets, toilets, etc.
performing routine maintenance on various plumbing systems, and unclog drains.
Employee shall be proficient in reading and reviewing plans/blue prints and schematics for installation and repair of plumbing systems.
This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.
Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.Note: Must obtain a Jefferson Parish Gasfitter’s License within six (6) months of hire date.
Failure to obtain the required licenses will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Possession of an active Master or Journeyman Plumber’s license issued by the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana, with at least one (1) year of full-time, paid, work experience as a licensed plumber.
