Since the Army National Guard uses a plethora of electronic systems, power is essential to success.

As the Power-Generation Equipment Repairer, you’ll supply the power to run virtually every aspect of Army activity whenever and wherever it’s needed.n nIn this specialty, you’ll support military operations day or night by performing preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment, or replace voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards.

You may also adjust frequencies and voltages using technical publications to enhance equipment efficiency.n nJob Dutiesn n* Perform maintenance on tactical utility, precise power-generation sets, internal combustion engines, and associated equipmentn nSome of the Skills You’ll Learnn n* Generator and powerplant operationsn* Electrical generation and distributionn* Diesel generator operation, disassembly, inspection, and maintenancen* Principles of electrical and electronic circuitryn nHelpful Skillsn n* Experience using hand and power toolsn* Interest in electricity and working with large machineryn nThrough your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career as a power plant electrician.n nEarn While You Learnn nInstead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train.

In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.n nJob training for a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you’ll learn basic Soldiering skills, and approximately 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in maintaining electrical power systems.

Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
