Stella-Jones Corporation seeks a highly qualified Plant Manager for our Alexandria, LA Operations. Our Plant Manager is responsible for the daily treating plant operation functions to assure production schedules and requirements are achieved on a quality, timely and cost effective basis. Ensures compliance with government regulations pertaining to environmental controls, hazardous waste management and safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains manufacturing operation business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle and production costs.
- Maintains operation properly manned with a qualified, competent work force.
- Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Ensures all established costs, quality, safety and delivery commitments are met.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions for the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
- Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
- Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Recommends system improvements and plans for upgrading productivity.
- Responsible for operating and capital budget development and attainment.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience including supervisory responsibility
- Bachelors; or four to ten years related experience
- Prior experience with forest products preferred
- Experience with inventory management preferred
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, ability to manage 20+ employees
- Proven ability to take charge/self-starter approach
- Strong work ethic. Has high standards and holds self and others accountable
- Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers (MS Office)
