Legal Assistant

This is a Full-time position in New Orleans, LA posted July 20, 2021.

We could have run a boring ad for an ?legal assistant.?

But we are not looking for just another boring legal assistant type of person.

We are looking for a Rockstar Team Member with a service-oriented frame of mind even before they?ve had their first cup of coffee in the morning!

We?re looking for someone who enjoys learning something new every day, but who can manage the routine work that must be done to keep our law office and our cases running smoothly.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated by a desire to do the highest quality work to make our clients happy.

Above everything else, we are looking for a person who is eager, positive, happy, energetic, attentive to detail, and who has a ?can do?

solutions-oriented mindset.

We place a high premium on finding a conscientious person with the right attitude (as opposed to ?an attitude?).

A preferred background of at least 3
– 5 year?s litigation legal assistant experience in a fast-paced, law firm environment.

Associate Degree or Business School Certificate or related education preferred. Must have good organizational and communication skills; initiative; the ability to meet deadlines; and be a team player.

Computerized litigation support (Westlaw), PACER, and eDiscovery experience a plus.

Who Should Apply for This Job?

The person we hire will have great time management and task management skills.

You will be intellectually stimulated and ?busy?

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.

to 5:15 p.m.

Depending on case load some days may run outside of normal business hours.

This job will require excellence in handling the following sorts of tasks:
· Client Intake and Communication.

Handling initial calls from prospective clients who contact the firm and scheduling initial consultations with our attorneys, and keeping existing clients informed of the status of their case.

· Strong proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Adobe. PCLaw, experience would be GREAT, but not required.

· Working knowledge of legal practices, terminology, documents, and court procedures.

· Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally in a business environment.

· Ability to maintain strict firm and client confidentiality.

· Well-organized and the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities from multiple sources.

· Ability to accurately type a minimum of 70 words per minute.

· Excellent spelling, grammar, vocabulary, proofreading, transcription, and general clerical skills.

· Draft and prepare legal and non-legal documents (e.g., pleadings, summonses, complaints, motions, subpoenas, general correspondence, etc.)
· Perform other duties such as scheduling hearing, video conferencing, depositions, appointments, handle travel arrangements and maintain attorney calendars.

· Ability to operate standard office equipment, including personal computer, copier, multi-function printers, facsimile, and telephone.

· Process of service for Orders/Rules, 1313 Service
· In-person filing with Louisiana courts
· Walk-through court process
· Create presentations for CLE?s
· Maintain document files, including tabbing and indexing litigation files
· Calendar and docket hearings, appointments, and deadlines
· Confer with court personnel
· Input attorney time
· Make travel arrangements
· Other.

The person will ask questions to learn the way we do things but will never make excuses when things go wrong.

The person we hire will be organized, attentive to details, and the type of person who keeps lists.
